ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Dumboy Festival was created in 2008 with the intention of fostering greater unity amongst the People of Grand Bassa County, by celebrating a shared history and culture with each other and Liberian and foreign guests alike. It also intends to promote investment and development of Grand Bassa County’s tourism sector along sustainable guidelines, with ensured continued protection of our environment for future generations.
DOM BOY FESTIVAL
The Festival has become Grand Bassa County’s premier cultural, tourist and social event. The festival brings together many events celebrating the culture and history of the people of Grand Bassa County. Now in its fifth year the festival is set to expand its activities as it attempts to become Liberia’s only cultural and tourist event.
Chefs
The festival is set to develop to be more than a series of competitions, agricultural and culinary exhibitions; it wishes to encourage more community and guest participation through several new activities & events. By introducing a cultural competition “a la carnival” wherein competing groups can vie for prizes, a beauty pageant emphasizing traditional Grand Bassa Culture, a charity ball, a Liberian Film Screening featuring several Liberian shorts and films, a Pen Pen motorbike race and a Dumboy Fever Dance Night, and a band parade, amongst others.
Each activity and event is geared towards encouraging participation and enjoyment from the citizenry of the county, local and foreign tourists alike. In its new expanded format the festival will cover three (3) days in December 2023, the traditional festive season in Liberia.
